A live Q&amp;A session will be hosted by Owen Chapman who is a CeMoRe visiting fellow and co-director of the Community and Differential Mobilities Cluster (CDMC) at Concordia University.<\/p>\n<p>We will be live streaming two events:<\/p>\n<p><strong>4pm &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Introduction to the event &amp; screening of film trailer<\/span> \u2013 Owen Chapman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4.30pm \u2013 6pm <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Simi Linton: Keynote<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Disability\/Arts is on the verge of a shift \u2013 a reshaping of disability in the cultural imagination; an increase in the cultural authority of disabled people; an elevation of our art.\u00a0\u00a0What can we do to promote such a shift? What stands in our way?<br \/>\nSimi Linton is a writer, teacher, and performer currently residing in New York City.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.30 \u2013 10pm <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Discussion #3 &#8211; creating crip: mad\/ crip\/ Deaf art practices<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lindsay Eales*, David Bobier, Ashley McAskill* and V\u00e9ro Leduc*<\/p>\n<p>The presentationsin the second session will use a variety of languages including combinations of English, French, signing and dance which may present challenges for a live video stream. We will do our best to ensure that our stream is accessible.<\/p>\n<p>This symposium is an invitation for members of our communities to share differing perspectives and practices in the hopes of enabling our communities to move together. It is an invitation to come watch a screening of . It is an invitation to those working from critical perspectives within disability, Deaf, neurodiversity, mad, illness, crip, and other social justice movements, to discuss ideas of disability, art, and movement that emerge from the screening. It is an invitation, especially for those working within Quebec, coming from Quebec, or wanting to connect better to Quebec communities, to engage publicly with the specificity of our experiences and movements.
