Dr Louise Mullagh

Lecturer in Performance and Place

Profile

My research explores how embodied, sensory encounters with place produce forms of knowledge that data-driven and AI-generated approaches cannot replicate, and what this means for our environment, ourselves and our more-than-human kin. Working in and around Morecambe Bay, I use walking as both methodological and theoretical practice to argue for the value of repertoire knowledge in an increasingly datafied world.

My work is trans-disciplinary, sitting at the intersection of performance studies, critical data studies, mobilities, art and design for sustainability. My wider practice includes roles on coastal adaptation and place-based cultural projects, alongside a continuing interest in creative research methods.

I teach on the Theatre and Performance BA and the Theatre for Social, Political and Environmental Change MA.

I am willing to take PhD researchers exploring similar fields across the disciplines in the School of Arts.
