Local artist Chas Jacobs joined students and staff at ¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½ to hand over his latest painting, the Colleges at Lancaster.

The artwork, commissioned during the University’s 50th anniversary celebrations, depicts what is distinctive about Lancaster as one of only a handful of UK universities with a collegiate system.

Students and staff from each of the 9 Colleges received their copy of the artwork from Chas last week.

Provost for the Colleges Professor Amanda Chetwynd said: “We are so thrilled with the finished artwork. Chas has captured perfectly the look and feel of the colleges at Lancaster.”

Chas, whose work attracts collectors world-wide, said he had thoroughly enjoyed completing the commission.

“I’ve always had strong links with ¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½, going back to my childhood, so I was excited to receive the commission,” he said. “To be able to capture the Colleges at an important point in the University’s history was quite a privilege.”
