I am currently working as a student programmes coordinator in the Psychology department (Wednesday-Friday) alongside completing my PhD (Monday-Tuesday). My PhD is in the School of Computing & Communications researching ways to improve digital accessibility for ADHD. I also work as a graduate TA helping on taught modules in the School of Computing and Communications. I am also a member of the 抖阴APP导航 LGBTQIA+ Ally Network.
External Roles
I sit on the Inclusion Committee of BCS The Chartered Institute for IT where I am a professional member (MBCS). I am also an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (AFHEA).
I have previously sat on BCS’s specialist group committees for the NeurodiverseIT group and the ICT Ethics group and have also held the role of Access and Inclusion Chair for the European Association of Technology Enhanced Learning (EATEL).
Research Overview
My current research is focused on supporting students with ADHD and understanding how we can make accessible technology for learning environments.
This involves developing a more detailed understanding of ADHD as a digital accessibility consideration and of how we currently integrate technology in various aspects and levels of teaching and learning. Additionally my work is currently focusing on the design of coding environments for computer science education.
Research Interests
My research interests are primarily focused on inclusivity in HCI, and societal impacts of technology on people with disabilities both in education, and in wider society. This includes topics such as technology enhanced methods in both learning and assessment, assistive technology, digital accessibility and other topics like them.
Current Teaching
I teach on various modules across the year with occasional gaps. Topics I teach range from ethics in computing and research technique to software design and programming though my main areas are in software engineering and HCI due to my background and my own research areas.
Previous modules I have taught include: SCC 130: Information systems, SCC 141: Professionalism in Practice, SCC 205: Social, Ethical and Professional Issues in Computing, SCC 211: Software Design, SCC 243: Sustainable Computing, SCC 343: Computer Science Education, SCC 360: Computer Science Seminars, and SCCx1A which is the combined lab for SCC 111: Software Development, SCC121: Fundamentals of Computer Science and SCC131 Digital Systems.
