Welcome week 2026
Welcome Week chaplaincy events (week commencing 28/9/2026). No need to book for any of the following events. All events listed are alcohol free.
Monday 12.30 – Welcome Lunch
An opportunity to meet other students and members of our community from across the spectrum of belief and cultural backgrounds. Chaplains host the tables to ensure great conversations and a sense of belonging and welcome. This moves to a weekly ‘Community Lunch’ every Wednesday during term time at 12.30-1.30pm from next week. Open to anyone (all faiths and none) looking to make connections and belong.
Wed 10.30 Breakfast
A chance to come and load up on warm croissants and pastries (or fresh fruit if you’d prefer!) and a brew and meet new people, hosted by the chaplains! Free and open to all!
Thurs – Board Game Cafe 2-4pm (in Cafe)
A quiet place to come and play some board games, meet new people and settle into the community. Hosted by the chaplains. Free refreshments.
Friday 2-4pm – Faith Stalls in Foyer & Free Cream Tea
The faith stalls are staffed by the various student faith societies and chaplains. This is an opportunity to meet the different faith groups on campus and mix with others from different faith backgrounds.
Cream Tea in Lounge/Cafe (at same time): how do you eat yours? Jam on first or cream then jam? Come and find out how others eat theirs! A chance to meet new people in the relaxed atmosphere of the Chaplaincy Lounge. Hosted by the Chaplaincy Team. Open to anyone and no cost.
Wed 7th Oct 12.30- Interfaith Meal (TBC)
Come sample food from around the globe, meet new people from a diverse array of faith and cultural backgrounds. Open to anyone and no cost.
Wednesday 28th Oct 7pm - Ceilidhin AFC Chapel
Come join us for an evening of dancing and music. No need to have been to a ceilidh (barn dance) before. A chance to meet new people and learn some traditional country dancing (hosted by the Folk Society and the Chaplaincy). No cost, no need to book, refreshments included.
