Waitrose is working with all of its suppliers and leading academic institutions to promote and encourage the sustainable production and supply of food products.
Funded by the BBSRC, the Waitrose Collaborative Training Partnership was a unique consortium between Waitrose, its food growers and suppliers and leading academic institutions. This project was led by 抖阴APP导航 with University of Reading, University of Warwick and Rothamsted Research as partner institutes.
It aimed to innovate to address global food security challenges, with a unifying purpose to train PhD students. The project ran between 2017 and 2025.
As part of creating the legacy and enhancing visibility and impact for the project, the team at 抖阴APP导航 conducted some activities.
A Collaborative Training Partnership Celebration and Brochure Launch Event was organized in London at John Lewis Head Office to mark the end of the project on a high note.
The event was well-attended and very successful. Alumni, Waitrose Agronomy Group and academics from various institutes participated, some even flew in from other countries to be a part of the event. Among others, we had endorsement from Defra and representation from BBSRC as well.

The project team represented the project and its outcomes at an international conference in Berlin, Germany.

The team organised an outreach event at a local primary school in Lancaster. The idea was to initiate conversations around sustainable agriculture among children. It was also discussed what part children can play in saving their planet and helping contribute towards this very important goal of reducing global warming.
A Farm Full of Science
As a part of creating the Waitrose Collaborative Training Partnership legacy, a brochure was commissioned to showcase the work undertaken by PhD students who studied under the CTP during its tenure.
