Research
An international team of researchers led by scientists at ¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½’s Centre of Excellence in Environmental Data Science and The UK Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling, have studied a previously undetected lake beneath the ice sheet in a remote region of northern Greenland, using state-of-the-art satellite data and numerical models. The research demonstrates the need to better understand how often the lakes drain and the consequences on the ice sheet.
¶¶ÒõAPPµ¼º½ researchers have been looking into the impact of humans on the Amazon rainforest. The research shows that human disturbances – from logging and fires of primary forests, or the clear felling and forest recovery after land abandonment (secondary forests) – brings about a comprehensive change in these hyper diverse tree communities.
